WHY PRAY & FAST?

As we step into a new year, we want to begin by turning our hearts toward God together. Prayer and fasting help us slow down, listen, and intentionally seek the Lord. This season is not about striving or perfection, it’s about creating space for God to move in our lives, our church, and our community.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
— 2 Chronicles 7:14

prayer focus

  • Days 1–7

This week focuses on personal connection with God. We begin by remembering who we are in Him, choosing humility, and building a daily rhythm of prayer. Our focus is on drawing closer to God, aligning our hearts with His, and growing a deeper hunger for His presence.

  • Days 8-14

This week centers on inner renewal and trust. We pray for God to realign our hearts, renew our minds, and strengthen our faith. The focus is on receiving God’s grace, walking in forgiveness, and trusting that God hears our prayers and responds.

  • Days 15–21

This week looks outward and forward. We pray for healing in our lives, our relationships, the church, and the community. We also commit to carrying a lifestyle of prayer beyond the 21 days, living out what God has been forming in us.

FASTING

daniel fast

The Daniel Fast is based on the biblical example found in Daniel 1 and 10. This fast focuses on fruits, vegetables, whole foods, and water, while avoiding processed foods, sugar, meat, and sweets.
This type of fast helps us simplify our eating so we can be more spiritually attentive and dependent on God.

partial fast

A Partial Fast involves fasting one or two meals a day, such as skipping breakfast or lunch and using that time for prayer.
This is a great option for those who want to fast but may not be able to do a full food fast. It allows us to intentionally pause, pray, and refocus our hearts on God throughout the day.

media/digital fast

A Media or Digital Fast means stepping away from social media, television, streaming, gaming, or other forms of entertainment.
By reducing noise and distractions, we create room to hear from God more clearly and be more present in prayer, Scripture, and reflection.

specific fast

A Specific Fast is giving up something meaningful or significant in your life for this season, such as coffee, sweets, shopping, or another daily habit.
This type of fast is an intentional act of devotion, reminding us to rely on God and keep Him first in our lives.
